Background & History |
The Reading shops converted 27 loco-hauled passenger cars to electric trailer coaches to supplement their fleet of 100+ MU power cars. Control cabs were added at one end of the car and because they lacked pantographs, rooftop bus connectors were added to supply power for heating and lighting. It was said that one could tell they were riding in a trailer car due to the slack action in the couplers.* |
Our fleet of Reading electric trailer coaches are currently in need of a full restoration, which will be a major undertaking. We could certainly use your help both financially and timewise to help make this a reality. If you are a company, consider the possibility of "adopting" a car through corporate sponsorship.
